The meeting was held at the Presidential Secretariat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulating the President, the Ambassador engaged in a friendly conversation with him, the President\u2019s Media Division said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two parties discussed advancing the existing relations between Sri Lanka and the United States through a strong approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ambassador also assured that she would provide support for the future activities of the new government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the U.S. Ambassador commenting on the meeting with the President on Twitter said the President Wickremesinghe takes office at a time when Sri Lanka stands at a crossroads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said they discussed how it arrived at this point of economic and political crisis, and how they can work together to navigate toward a brighter future for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur countries and our people have been friends and partners for more than 70 years, relationships that will flourish in a Sri Lanka that embraces good governance, respects human rights, and listens to the aspirations of its people,\u201d Chung said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung today called on President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
