DSI’s U Softo launches ‘අත්වැල’ CSR initiative

Supporting vulnerable communities through economic hardships

U Softo, one of the renowned everyday footwear brands of DSI, recently launched a new CSR initiative named “DSI U Softo අත්වැල” (Athwela) with the aim of providing relief to vulnerable communities affected by the prevailing economic crisis and spiralling financial restrains.

As the inaugural project of the initiative, DSI U Softo අත්වැල donated dry rations worth over Rs. 700,000 among two orphanages – Vajira Sri Children’s Development Centre and Sevana Special School and Child Care Centre, both located in Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte.

Commenting on the initiative, D. Samson & Sons (Pvt) Ltd. Director Mr. Asanka Rajapaksa stated: “We are deeply humbled by this opportunity to give some form of relief and support to those who are in need at this difficult time. Children are the gatekeepers of the future, and with the very first step of our ‘අත්වැල’ initiative, we look to further our mission to help vulnerable communities, especially children, to make a real change in their lives.”

Also present at the inaugural project ceremony were Manager – Sales Mr. Nirodha Gunasekara; Assistant Managers – Brands Mr. Chinthana Yapa, Ms. Sajani Perera, and Ms. Jayanika Rajasinghe; Junior Executive – Brands Ms. Sandunika Malshani; and Marketing Intern Mr. Damith Shaminda.

Sri Lanka’s economic crisis has taken a toll on many families and communities, making meeting ends meet a daily obstacle that has drastically diminished a majority’s standard of living. In this backdrop, U Softo launched the අත්වැල CSR initiative with a vision to support vulnerable parts of society to overcome hardships caused by the current challenging times.

As a company committed to giving back to society, DSI U Softo අත්වැල aspires to carry out more projects across the country in future, bringing much-needed relief to those who are in need of the same.
