Lanka Hospitals PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier private healthcare provider, has been awarded the latest 7th edition of the prestigious “Gold Seal” global accreditation from the Joint
Commission International (JCI) of the USA recently. This coveted accreditation is awarded at the end of a rigorous evaluation process by a team of veteran international healthcare experts who ensure that the hospital duly conforms to every stringent clinical quality and safety standard set by the Joint Commission International (JCI).
“It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce that Lanka Hospitals PLC has been re-accredited by the JCI after successfully meeting all requirements set forth by the renowned organization. This is a testimony to our commitment to offer our patrons the best-in-class healthcare services in line with the highest international standards,” said Dr. Lasantha Karunasekara, Deputy CEO/Director Medical Services of Lanka Hospitals PLC.
The US-based Joint Commission International (JCI) is the world leader in international healthcare accreditation, and Lanka Hospitals’ journey with the JCI started in 2014 with the initial accreditation of Lanka Hospitals.
Speaking of the JCI accreditation, Dr. Karthika Kathiresan, Assistant Director Medical Services & Head of Quality Assurance of Lanka Hospitals PLC said, “The extraordinarily stringent requirements that JCI sets make it one of the most prestigious accreditations a hospital can receive – but it is also one of the most challenging. Our patrons have the assurance that they are receiving the best levels of clinical care, patient safety, adherence to international standards, and respect for the rights of the patients at Lanka Hospitals because of the JCI accreditation.”
Joint Commission International (JCI) is a US-based accreditation body that is widely regarded as a leader in the accreditation of healthcare organizations around the world. To
improve patient safety and the level of healthcare globally, JCI provides international accreditation, certification, education, publications, and advisory services in more than 100 countries. JCI has also collaborated with governmental organizations, academic institutions, international advocacy, hospitals, clinics, and academic medical institutes to support them in maintaining high standards in healthcare.
Apart from the JCI accreditation, Lanka Hospitals PLC has been the recipient of multiple other international accolades and accreditations, such as the world-renowned Medical Tourism Certification from the Medical Travel Quality Alliance (MTQUA). Furthermore, Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics (LHD) is the only Sri Lankan laboratory to be accredited by the prestigious laboratory accreditation body, The College of American Pathologists (CAP).
