South Korean non-profit organization donates essential medicines to Sri Lanka

A donation of 25 essential pharmaceutical items, worth over Rs. 42,000,000 was donated to Sri Lanka by the Human Earth Welfare Non-Profit Organization of the Republic of Korea. The donation was facilitated by the Chief Incumbent of the Korea-Sri Lanka Mahaviharaya, Ven. Thalgamuwe Dammakiththi Thero. The consignment of medicines was being flown free of charge to Sri Lanka by Sri Lankan Airlines.

Speaking at the official handing over ceremony at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul on 22nd July 2022, the Ven. Thero highlighted that this timely donation would be of great assistance to the medical sector of Sri Lanka.

Ambassador-designate of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea, Ms. Savitri.I.Panabokke, accepting the donation on behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka, conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to the Human Earth Welfare Non-Profit Organization for the donation. She also thanked Ven. Dr. Thalduwe Dhammakiththi thero for facilitating this meritorious act and Mr. Dileepa Wijesuriya, Country Director of Sri Lankan Airlines in Korea, for the assistance rendered by the airline.

The Ambassador-designate emphasized that this donation is a reflection of robust people to people relations between the Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea and the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.
