EDOTCO SRI LANKA INAUGURATES ITS 700TH MULTI-PURPOSE STREETLAMP POLE IN FURTHERANCE…

EDOTCO Services Lanka (Private) Limited (“EDOTCO Sri Lanka”) recently inaugurated its 700th multi-purpose street lamp pole at the Port City Development project premises in Colombo 01.

The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (“TRCSL”), Mr Madushanka Dissanayake, the Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, Mrs Renuka Weerakone, Group Director – Engineering Technology and innovation of Edotco Group Sdn. Bhd. Mr. Pradeep de Almeida and other dignitaries from the telecommunications industry, presided at this occasion.

Addressing a distinguished gathering of key decision makers from the telecommunications industry, Mr. Madushanka Dissanayake, the Director General of the TRCSL emphasized that the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission will provide its fullest support to Edotco for all future endeavours of the Company.

EDOTCO Services Lanka (Private) Limited (“EDOTCO Sri Lanka”) recently inaugurated its 700th multi-purpose street lamp pole at the Port City Development project premises in Colombo 01. The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (“TRCSL”), Mr Madushanka Dissanayake, the Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, Mrs Renuka Weerakone, Group Director – Engineering Technology and innovation of Edotco Group Sdn. Bhd. Mr. Pradeep de Almeida and other dignitaries from the telecommunications industry, presided at this occasion.

The Country Managing Director of EDOTCO Sri Lanka, Mr. Gayan Koralage, reflected on the company’s journey since 2017, highlighting the significant progress made in the advancement of the country’s telecommunications infrastructure landscape. He emphasized the growth from 8 multi-purpose streetlamp poles on Marine-Drive in 2017 to reaching the milestone of the 700th structure at the Port City premises. He attributed this achievement to the confidence customers have placed in EDOTCO Sri Lanka, showcasing the commitment of EDOTCO Sri Lanka to its customer base over the years. He also mentioned the company’s culture of innovation, which aims to serve customers, connect the underserved, and bridge the digital divide in Sri Lanka.

“This pivotal milestone suggests that EDOTCO Sri Lanka has played a crucial role in advancing the telecommunications infrastructure in the country, contributing to connectivity and digital access”, Mr. Koralage further said.

The Group CEO of EDOTCO Group Sdn. Bhd., Mr. Adlan Tajudin, congratulated EDOTCO Sri Lanka on achievement of this momentous task, and he emphasized on the resilience of the Sri Lankan People to overcome any challenge.

“EDOTCO Sri Lanka’s tremendous journey to its 700th multi-purpose street lamp pole is a testament to Sri Lanka’s resilience and commitment. This achievement is particularly noteworthy considering the challenges faced along the way, including the Easter attacks in 2019, the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022, and subsequent economic turbulence in Sri Lanka.

Despite these challenges, the installation of the 700th Pole at the iconic location of the  Port City development Project signifies not only a significant milestone for EDOTCO but also highlights the resilience and potential of Sri Lanka as an attractive destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

In the face of adversity, Sri Lanka has demonstrated its ability to overcome challenges and create opportunities for growth. The strategic location of the 700th multi-purpose street lamp pole the Port City development Project underscores the country’s potential for economic development and showcases the growth that can be achieved.
