The Sri Lanka Air Force has confirmed the provision of an Air Force military plane for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to leave the island for the Maldives.
Issuing a statement, the Air Force said an Air Force plane was given in the early morning of today (13th) for the President to leave the Katunayake International Airport for the Maldives.
“In accordance with the powers vested in an Executive President in the Constitution of Sri Lanka, at the request of the existing Government, subject to the full approval of the Ministry of Defense, and subject to immigration, customs and all other laws at the Katunayake International Airport, an Air Force plane was given in the early morning of the 13th for the President and the First Lady, along with two bodyguards, to leave the Katunayake International Airport for the Maldives.”
