Perera & Sons (P&S), Sri Lanka’s foremost Quick Service Restaurant facility provider, recently reached a significant milestone in its long journey as it celebrated its 120th Anniversary. The occasion stands as a testament to the organization’s long standing commitment and history, in efforts to uplift the local community through its products, services and overall social responsibility.
In 1902, P&S started as a humble little bakery by K.A. Charles Perera from the remote southern village of Kodagoda. During the course of its successful 120 years, P&S has flourished from a single bakery store to a chain of over 180 outlets operating in 7 provinces around the island. The retail outlet takes pride in producing every great-tasting item of food on its list with care and with a continued commitment to quality. A pioneer and leader in bakery art, P&S has transformed from an era where products were sold door-to-door to becoming a household name sold across all corners of Sri Lanka, predominantly due to its rapid progression in automation, innovation and branch operations synchronizing simultaneously over time with its range of tasty products.
Commenting on the milestone anniversary, Gihan Perera, CEO/Managing Director of Perera & Sons stated, “The 120th anniversary is indeed a momentous occasion for us, and we are immensely proud and thankful to each member of our driving workforce for their passion, commitment and dedication leading up to this date. Perera & Sons has remained at the forefront of the Quick Service Restaurant industry with a strong network island wide, to which our growth has also positioned us as a trustworthy household brand known across generations. We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone and look forward to the future.”
The 180+ P&S outlets across the country are served by a network of 12 well-equipped and hygienic production units in key locations. In certain areas, the company sources some of its raw materials from local farmers thereby helping them to earn greater profits and improve their livelihoods. P&S takes pride in putting a great deal of care into producing each and every item they sell. That strong commitment helps them to ensure that the customer gets the same high quality product from any P&S outlet in the country. P&S has also joined hands with delivery platforms such as Uber Eats, PickMe Food and Appigo, to ensure that customers can always conveniently access their high quality eats and treats, from the comfort of the home or office.
Over the years, P&S has successfully carried out a number of CSR Programs through its “Manumehewara” initiative which aims to uplift the lives of Sri Lankans in all parts of the country. These programs are all aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals such as Clean Water and Sanitization, Reduced Inequalities, and Responsible Consumption and Production. Under this initiative, the company has donated a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant to the Dialysis Unit of the Trincomalee District Base Hospital and the Gamini Vidyalaya Kudawilachchiya, in the Anuradhapura District. In addition to this, P&S has also established a comprehensive internal waste management programme for a cleaner and greener
