The Hearing-Impaired Dance Group of Brandix Apparel Limited, recently participated in a celebration to mark the International Day of Sign Languages. Held on September 23rd, the event was jointly organised by the Department of Social Services and the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment. The 12-member dance team, all of whom work at Brandix’s Rambukkana facility, graced the Sethsiripaya Stage at the main auditorium in the presence of State Minister of Social Empowerment, Mr. Anupa Pasqual and many high-profile guests.
With a culture that values fostering diverse talents, Brandix employs a total of 154 persons with disabilities, of whom 103 persons are hearing impaired. The same hearing-impaired dancing team of Brandix Rambukkana facility performed a stunning dance act at Brandix Rasadiya Mangalya in 2019, a much-looked forward to annual talent and award show for all Brandix members. In 2018, three hearing-impaired associates of the Brandix Koggala plant participated in the T20 Cricket World Cup for Hearing-impaired persons, taking home the championship title.
