In order to commemorate World Children’s Day on 1st October 2022, Sri Lanka Insurance (SLIC) launched yet another heartwarming Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by providing a Free Life Cover worth Rs. 1 million for the parents of every child being born on 1st October 2022 island-wide, ensuring the future of those infants are protected. The programme was carried out island-wide, covering all hospitals on 1st October 2022. As the national insurer, the main objective behind this CSR initiative is to fulfill SLIC’s duty towards the nation by safeguarding the nation’s families and communities.
Commenting on this unique initiative during an event to award this new policy to the parents at Castle hospital, Colombo the Chief Executive Officer of SLIC, Chandana L. Aluthgama noted: “Providing a secure future to the children of this nation is a priority for SLIC and we will continue to support the parents as well. SLIC is a people-centric insurance provider, and it will continue to deliver its promise.”
As a national insurer, SLIC has been taking the message of insurance to everyone, as its responsibility towards the nation and its people, and has taken a keen interest in protecting and nurturing future generations. SLIC strongly believes in uplifting lives of Sri Lankan people through CSR initiatives and this approach is a core element in its business strategy. Sri Lanka Insurancewas among the most profitable state entities with a top performance in the first half of the year 2022 recording a profit before taxation of Rs. 7.7 billion, with a strong improvement in combined Gross Written Premium (GWP) of Rs. 21 billion, showing a growth of 13.1 per cent. SLIC also secured the ‘Most Valuable General Insurance Brand’ and the ‘Most Loved Insurance Brand’ of the year for the 5th consecutive year by Brand Finance.
