The Petroleum Distributors Association requests the authorities to restore the military security that was given to the filling stations before releasing fuel under the QR code.
Joint Secretary of the Petroleum Distributors Association, Kapila Naotunna said that the filling stations were given military protection even when they were closed due to lack of fuel.
The Joint Secretary said that even though police protection has been provided to the filling stations belonging to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, it is not enough.
The Joint Secretary further stated that they agree to issue fuel under the QR code and that there is a possibility of eliminating the existing oil mafia through it.
The Ministry of Energy has now planned to start issuing fuel under the QR code from tomorrow. A pilot project covering all districts was implemented yesterday.
