Considering the current COVID-19 situation in the country, the Ministry of Health strongly recommends wearing face masks once again.
The recommendation was issued by the Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardena yesterday.
Issuing a statement, Dr. Gunawardena recommended wearing face masks at indoor venues, public places and also while using public transport.
Dr. Asela Gunawardena issued the orders as the competent authority for the whole country according to the regulations compiled under the Quarantine and Disease Prevention Ordinance No. 03 of 1897, by the Health Minister by Regulation No.100, published in the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2264/69 dated January 25, 2022.
The Ministry of Health says that it is essential for all people to wear face masks even though it has not been imposed as a law.
