Police identify 150 anti-government protesters who damaged state properties

Investigation teams led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have so far identified around 150 people involved in breaking into the President’s House, the Temple Trees, the Presidential Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s Office and damaging the properties.

According to the CID officials, 55 suspects have been identified in connection with the breaking into and damaging the Presidential Secretariat and 15 suspects have been identified in connection with damage to the Prime Minister’s office.

Rest of the suspects were identified for damaging the President’s House and Temple Trees and stealing property from those places, a senior officer of the police headquarters said.

The officer further stated that operations will be started immediately to arrest these suspects and legal action will be taken against them under the Public Property Act and Archeology Act etc. after consulting the Attorney General.
