The Sri Lanka Junior Golf Match-Play Championship 2023 for the Rukmini Kodagoda Trophy Teed-Off at the RCGC for the 8th year sponsored by Perera & Sons.
K.Dhanushan carded an Even-Par 71 to take pole position seeded Number 1 aheda of Reshan Algama on 73, Seeded 2 followed by Jevahn Sathasivam on 75 to take the 3rd Seed slot.
Vinuda Weerasinghe and Jacob Norton tied on 79, seeded 4th and 5th in the Junior Boys Championship category.
The Junior Girls Category seems less competitive with Kaya Daluwatte Seeded # 1 clear of the field with a 74 ahead of Dhavinka Kanag-Iswaran and Sherin Balasuriya on 81, Seeded 2 and 3 respectively.
The Silver Division for Boys with 21 entries seems hotly contested and Thejas Rathis Kanth clinched the Top Seed spot with a 76 followed by Janeesh Weerasinghe from Anuradhapura Golf Academy and Kaiyan Johnpillai Seeded 2 and 3. T. Deshan, Keshav Algama and Varun Fernando tied on 81, Seeded 4, 5, and 6 respectively followed closely by Shenal Nimsith and Adithya Weerasinghe with just one-stroke separating the seeds, which promises very closely fought matches from the Quarter Final stage.
The Silver Division for Girls also seems closely fought-out and there could be close matches, though Kaitlyn Norton with a 97 earned the Top Seed rank, while Dilini Amarawansa from Anuradhapura seeded number2 followed by Keya Abhayaratne Seeded 3.
In the Bronze Division, Boys segment, Revaan Amarasinghe with a 76 grabbed the Top Seed spot followed by L.G. Anuja Methsara of Anuradhapura seeded # 2 and Mohamed Saqeer Zuhar and B.A. Sadaneth are Seeded # 3 & 4 respectively.
In the Girls Segment of the Bronze Division Genuli Abesundara of Anuradhapura was seeded # 1 followed by Hesandi Gayansa Meepawala and Nimasha Dhamli seeded # 2 & 3 accordingly.
The Copper Division combined Boys and Girls for juniors in the 09+ and under age category seemed well contested with Jaeden Sathasivam Seeded #1 with a 9 hole score of 43 closely followed by Sashen De Silva 46, Yuvan Rathis Kanth 47, seeded # 2 and 3 respectively. Ananya Kishanthan, Richard Magala, Abiman Abewardana, Dhaya Perera and Samitha De Silva completed the Seeding for the Quarter-Final Match-Play Round.
The P&S Junior Golf Match-Play Championship for the Rukmini Kodagoda Trophy enters the Knock-out Match-Play segment from Tuesday with the Quarter-Final line-up, with the Semi-final and Final scheduled for Thursday, 24th August 2023 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club Course.
